Cyber Defence

As NATO's cyber defender and technological hub, the NCIA supports the Alliance by delivering secure Information Technology (IT) and cyber security services across the NATO Enterprise to ensure a resilient environment.

Our scientists maintain NATO's resilience in the cyber domain by protecting NATO networks and NATO's digital backbone, operating in cyberspace in the Alliance's operations and missions, and providing a platform for Allies' political consultation and collective action.

Cyber threats to the security of the Alliance are becoming more frequent, complex, destructive and coercive. A single data breach can have devastating repercussions, jeopardizing public safety and collective defence. Recognizing the gravity of this, NATO is adapting its approach to cyber threats and cyber security decisions with thoughtfulness as well as urgency.

By engaging with Allies, industry, academia and leading cyber agencies, we ensure that NATO has a high-level of situational awareness of cyber threats and can respond effectively and efficiently to malicious cyber activities.

Our work on cyber can be classified into four categories: cyber adaptation, digital modernization, cyber security and cyber training.
