Video: How NCIA delivers critical satellite communications to NATO

Satellite Communications (SATCOM) are crucial in enabling secure and seamless exchange of information across multiple domains, supporting situational awareness of deployed forces and decision-making for leadership and commanders. The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) plays a key role delivering SATCOM capabilities to NATO, by providing a unified network to all corners of the Alliance.

NCIA operates six satellite ground stations and one satellite centre, ensuring secure and seamless communication channels for NATO command centres and deployed forces.

NCIA’s SATCOM experts work around the clock to update, operate and maintain the SATCOM systems to keep it up to the highest standard of operational readiness, including the implementation of back-up components to guarantee business continuity in the face of potential interruptions or threats. This work lays the foundations for communicating and decision-making during missions and operations, by ensuring users have access to uninterrupted and continuous satellite communication services.

“Every day we keep NATO connected by installing, operating and maintaining satellite communication systems,” said Lieutenant Colonel Christian Bisson, Station Commander at NCIA.
