NCIA presents at DCIS conference in Prague


From 26 to 27 January 2026, the Deployable Communications and Information Systems (DCIS) conference took place in Prague, Czech Republic. The forum brought together defence experts and industry partners to discuss NATO’s DCIS capabilities.


The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) Chief of the NATO Integrated Mission Services Centre (NIMSC), John Blythe, briefed participants on the Agency's deployable communications and information systems capabilities, including established satellite communications (SATCOM) solutions, deployable network infrastructures, and mature information‑management tools that support NATO missions across the globe.

Blythe emphasized that these capabilities provide a solid foundation for Allied mission readiness, while noting the growing operational complexity is driving a range of new challenges. “NCIA fields strong capabilities, but the rise of emerging threats require greater readiness and adaptation, as well as continuous modernization to maintain NATO’s technological edge,” he said.

During the conference he presented several initiatives aimed to address these challenges, including the development of multi-domain operations, the streamline of command and control processes through operationalized and secured use of artificial intelligence, or the use of commercial off-the-shelf solutions. Together these efforts are expected to enhance the interoperability, adaptability and reliability of deployed, enhancing NATO’s ability to maintain secure, reliable communications in contested environments.
