NCIA hosts young talent at its third NextGen Forum

From 17 to 18 September 2025, the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) brought together young professionals from different NCIA areas to share their internship experiences and build a sense of community.

This third edition of the NextGen Forum was designed to explain how NCIA is reimagining the intake and retention of young professionals, and how it plans to invest in their futures.

The two-day event held several teambuilding exercises, workshops and sessions centred around personalized goals and projects for each respective internship, where attendees brainstormed how to maximize their personal and professional development.

For the first time, the forum featured a knowledge-sharing panel of previous interns who, through high performance, have extended their internships with their respective Organisational Elements. They shared their perspective on their own previous internship experiences, to help the new arrivals settle in and set ambitious targets for their growth at NCIA. Attendees also had the chance to meet a wider pool of staff from around The Hague campus.

“The event was super valuable for getting a real sense for what the different NCIA areas are working on, and how it all fits together. It has really helped me to feel at home in the organization,” said Saga Portman, a current NATO Infrastructure Services Centre intern.

NCIA’s commitment to cultivate enriching careers for young professionals does not end at the NextGen Forum. Interns are offered a wide range of training, development and networking opportunities to establish their future careers at NCIA, as well as in the wider NATO community.
