NCIA Chief of Staff visits NATO Entities in Bydgoszcz, Poland

From 5 to 6 November 2025, Major General (MGEN) Krzysztof Kociuba, Chief of Staff of the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA), travelled to Bydgoszcz, Poland. MGEN Kociuba visited a number of important NATO entities based in the city, including the Joint Force Training Centre (JFTC), the 3rd NATO Signal Battalion (3NSB), and the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre (JATEC).

On 5 November, MGEN Kociuba began his visit at the JFTC, an essential hub of operational training and certifications in advanced and emerging platforms, where he met with JFTC Commander, MGEN Bogdan Rycerski to discuss NCIA’s continued support to its mission, including in the establishment of JFTC new secure facilities.

MGEN Kociuba then visited the NCIA Communication and Information Systems (CIS) Support Unit (CSU) Bydgoszcz, which delivers capabilities and services for JFTC and JATEC alongside the 3NSB and other Force Structures. CSU Bydgoszcz’s geographic position places it at the heart of NCIA’s role in bolstering readiness and resilience on the Eastern Flank, where it supports all NATO’s pre-deployment trainings and exercises with CIS planning and delivery, including major exercises and events annually. For instance, the CSU was central to enabling CWIX 2025, NATO’s largest interoperability exercise to date, made up of over 3,000 participants testing 571 capabilities from 46 nations, organizations, and partners.

The Chief of Staff praised the CSU personnel during an All-Hands meeting for their dedication in maintaining strong service delivery to existing customers while meeting the surging demand from new operational entities. “Efficiently supporting your co-located NATO partners is essential. This support underpins our readiness and resilience as an Alliance.”

MGEN Kociuba also met with the Commander 3NSB, Lieutenant Colonel Pavel Matuszek, to reaffirm NCIA’s continued support in mobile maintenance and communications across 3NSBs area of responsibility, which spans six countries.

On 6 November, MGEN Kociuba visited JATEC, marking his first official visit since the centre's inauguration in February 2025. JATEC’s mission is to capture and develop technical, conceptual and doctrinal lessons from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, while deepening cooperation between Ukrainian and Alliance forces.

By collaborating closely with Ukrainian Partners, and sharing lessons learned to the NATO Alliance more widely, JATEC is an important contributor to the continuous enhancement of NATO’s deterrence. The Chief of Staff met with JATEC Commander Brigadier General Wojciech Ozga, to discuss progress in delivering JATEC’s growing CIS capabilities and tailored solutions to meet their growing requirements

NATO's Centres and Force structures in Bydgoszcz are an important hub where operational, technical and organizational best practices can be shared throughout the Alliance. Through technical expertise and local support, NCIA remains a partner in these efforts.
