On 1 November 2025, the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) appointed Yannick Lemieux as Director of the NCI Academy.

NCIA appoints Yannick Lemieux as the new Director of the NCI Academy

He previously served as the Director of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals and as the Army G6, roles in which he oversaw strategic modernization, capability development, and the integration of advanced technologies across the Canadian Army. His commanding experience includes leading the Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics, Canada's premier institution for training military communicators, and a Canadian signals battalion deployed to Afghanistan.

In addition to his command and director-level appointments, he has first-hand experience as a military educator, having served as an instructor at the Canadian Army Command and Staff College, where he personally delivered training and understands what is required of both faculty and students.

Yannick also represented Canada abroad as Communications and Electronics Attaché at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C., United States, and as Defence Attaché to the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg and to Jordan and Qatar, strengthening bilateral defence relationships in key regions.

As Director of the NCI Academy, Yannick is set to lead a team of professionals delivering essential NATO technical, operational, and managerial education and training in cyberspace domains. Set to serve the NATO Command Structure, NATO Force Structure, NATO Headquarters and other NATO bodies, Allies and Partner Nations, the NCI Academy develops the NATO-specific knowledge, skills and human capabilities required to meet the Alliance's evolving digital and readiness needs.

Through the NCIA Corporate Academy, the NCI Academy also supports the professional development of NCIA staff. Working across all organizational elements, the NCIA Corporate Academy develops professional learning paths and provides technical, managerial and behavioural training to ensure the NCIA's most valuable asset - its people - are fully equipped to achieve mission success.

Speaking to the staff during his first All Hands Meeting, Lemieux shared his intent to deliver training to the edge and contribute to NATO readiness.
