NCIA partners with industry to update new end-user device and strengthen business network

On 17 July 2025, a contract signing ceremony was held at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, bringing together the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA), Thales, and Proximus. The event marked a major milestone in NCIA’s efforts to modernize its digital workplace infrastructure and enhance the resilience and performance of its business network.

The partnership will provide NCIA’s first multi-domain end-user device and replace legacy infrastructure with a secure, scalable cloud-based solution, improving communication and collaboration across multiple sites.

Additionally, the partnership will enhance existing Wi-Fi access points in The Hague, Oeiras, and Brussels, as well as provide platform administration services for key databases, SharePoint, and web portals.

The contract was awarded to Thales, which leads the consortium with Proximus, following a competitive bidding process that employed a novel sourcing approach, significantly reducing complexity and enabling the rapid selection of industry partners.

Thales will provide the secure cloud infrastructure and a fully managed service, while Proximus will deliver the secure multi-domain device and upgrade the Wi-Fi networks.

This partnership highlights NCIA’s dedication to working with industry partners to develop innovative digital capabilities and services, strengthening NATO’s technological edge.
