NCIA organizes Innovation Continuum 2024

From 2 to 5 September 2024, the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) organized the third series of the Innovation Continuum 2024, a strategic initiative led by NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) to drive tangible outcomes through the experimentation and demonstration of cutting-edge science and technology solutions in support of warfare development.

This edition, called GLOW, is the third of four events as part of the Innovation Continuum 2024 activities to advance NATO's innovation and capability development agenda. The event brought together industry leaders, academia, NATO bodies, and Allied representatives, at the Hague Security Delta Campus, located close to NCIA's facilities in the Netherlands. Participants addressed the unique challenges and opportunities presented by cyber defence, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and space technology, to help shape the future of NATO's defence capabilities.

GLOW built upon the scenarios and solutions identified during the first two events, SPARK and IGNITE, to ensure that the data and technology they bring to the table can be seamlessly integrated into the solutions used in the main and final event, SHINE, in October 2024.

Through intensive workshops and collaborative sessions, participants delved into the complexities of modern warfare and exploring innovative approaches to enhance operational efficiency and resilience. NCIA led the working groups within the Emerging and Disruptive Technologies and Digital Transformation syndicates, providing expertise and guidance to the various teams and organizations involved. NCIA experts supported ACT by organizing the event and developing innovative solutions, ensuring a cohesive and comprehensive approach to tackling complex defence challenges.

The Innovation Continuum is an opportunity for NATO and Nations to collaborate with ACT to further increase the value of science and technology products in support of warfare development. It is also an opportunity for NCIA to leverage its innovation potential in critical areas of emerging and disruptive technologies. NCIA experts from the Chief Technology Office (CTO) Digital Innovation and Technology team, supported ACT by developing innovative solutions, ensuring a cohesive and comprehensive approach to tackling complex defence challenges.
