MGEN Folmer delivered a keynote speech to open up the session entitled Digitalisation of Defence. "Partnership between NATO and industry is key to protecting our critical infrastructure and maintaining our technological edge," said MGEN Folmer during his keynote speech. "This collaboration offers access to cutting-edge technology, creative suggestions to needed digital solutions and innovative and optimized capabilities."
On 21 August, MGEN Folmer participated in an exclusive breakfast roundtable, where the discussion focused on leveraging Danish innovation and expertise to enhance NATO's operational capabilities and procurement processes. Working with industry is key to providing the latest technology and capabilities to support NATO operations and exercises, an integral part of NCIA's mission.
Later the same day, MGEN Folmer attended the 11th Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) Industry Days in Ballerup, Denmark. With more than 500 Danish and foreign exhibitors from the defence industry and over 6000 participants, the DALO Industry Days offered a unique opportunity for dialogue and networking. This year's theme focused on international participation from strategic partners in Europe and overseas.
Upon arrival at the DALO venue, MGEN Folmer was welcomed by the Director and Vice Director of Cyber Division and received a tour of the venue. MGEN Folmer participated in the DI panel debate alongside CEO Brigadier General Charlotte Wetche from CenSec, Director Joachim Finkielman from DI Danish Defence and Security Industries Association and Head of Multi Domain Operations Colonel Uffe Holstener from DALO Cyberdivision.
The debate's primary focus was addressing the greater need for military technology supply and further collaboration and interoperability between NATO partners at an industry level. "NCIA is working towards ensuring that security and integrity of supply chains withstand risks and threats," stated MGEN Folmer during the debate. "Only by working together and applying cooperative efforts of governments, industry, the technology community and other stakeholders, we can address cyber threats and risks posed to supply chains."
NCIA was also represented at DALO by Diana Nedelea, a Contracting Officer from the Chief of Acquisition team. Nedelea delivered a presentation about how to do business with NCIA, inviting and encouraging industry to engage with NCIA and apply for current and future collaboration opportunities.
NCIA's upcoming flagship event, NATO Edge 24, is another opportunity for industry to engage with NATO to address current and future challenges and leverage the expertise and innovation from the private sector, so that industry can help shape NATO's future. NATO Edge will bring together decision-makers, governments, industry leaders, academia, innovators and visionaries in Tampa, United States 3-5 December 2024 to exchange ideas on future-proofing our Alliance.
