NCIA Chief of Staff visits the Joint Support and Enabling Command

On 13 June 2024, the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) Chief of Staff, Major General Hans Folmer, visited the Joint Support and Enabling Command (JSEC) in Ulm, Germany.

JSEC, as a NATO command, is a static operational headquarters directly subordinate to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and his Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons, Belgium. JSEC's core mission is to support the Alliance by enabling, reinforcing and sustaining military forces in the Euro-Atlantic area.

The visit allowed for NCIA leadership to engage with JSEC leadership to discuss collaboration around future communication and information systems (CIS) projects and developments. The visit also included briefings about JSEC's infrastructure and the current requirements and challenges they face with CIS.

"I am delighted you have joined us at JSEC - the birthplace of Albert Einstein - to discuss innovation and integrate NCIA into our reinforcement and sustainment network," said JSEC Commander, Lieutenant General Alexander Sollfrank during the visit. "Given cyberspace threats, it is in our common interest to have robust and resilient systems to ensure deterrence and defence across NATO territory."
