NCIA celebrates 20th anniversary of the Joint Force Training Centre

From 22 to 24 May 2024, the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA)'s General Manager Ludwig Decamps travelled to Poland to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Joint Force Training Centre (JFTC).

The JFTC plays a significant role within the NATO training community, providing a flexible, cost effective training centre for current operations, emerging requirements, readiness, certification exercises and modern platform for experimentation. Their state of the art facility in Bydgoszcz, Poland, is equipped with an advanced communication and information system architecture.

The NCIA Communication and Information Systems (CIS) Support Unit (CSU) Bydgoszcz is located within the same compound. CSU Bydgoszcz plays a crucial role in delivering CIS support for JFTC exercise planning and execution. Current CIS capabilities provided by the CSU include the provision of over 40 virtual infrastructure services, deployed across 500 physical and virtual servers.

JFTC Commander, Major General Norbert Wagner, showed his appreciation for the JFTC staff during the ceremony celebration.

"Looking back on the JFTC's history and the last three years I feel very satisfied with what we have achieved together with the men and women, military and civilian, working shoulder to shoulder. It is a pleasure to be a part of such an experienced, dedicated and at the same time diverse but cohesive organization," said MGEN Wagner.

While visiting Poland, NCIA General Manager Ludwig Decamps also met with personnel from CSU Bydgoszcz and visited the Third Forward Support Point (3FSP) staff in the Third NATO Signal Battalion. Additionally, Decamps travelled to Warsaw and met with Major General Karol Molenda, Poland Cyber Command Centre Commander. Discussions focused on the Cyber Command Centre's approach to conducting cyber operations, and cyber cooperation with NCIA to strengthen to respond to evolving threats.
