On 29 June, NATO's top operational commander, Admiral James Stavridis and the General Manager of the NATO Communications and Information (NCI) Agency signed agreements on how the Agency will provide support in case of urgent operational requirements.
The agreements, called the Command and Control (C2) arrangements, outline SACEUR's authority and line of command over Agency resources in the event of urgent operational requirements. Regular support to NATO's operations is governed by service level agreements.
"These agreements underscore the seriousness that we give to our number one priority: supporting NATO operations," said NCI Agency General Manager Koen Gijsbers at the signature ceremony.
The agreements were signed at NATO's strategic operations command, SHAPE, in Mons, Belgium, following their approval by NATO's top decision-making body, the North Atlantic Council.
